New York City-bred rock band Nicotine Dolls will release their self-titled sophomore album on October 23 through BMG. Co-produced by frontman Sam Cieri and producer Marti Frederiksen, the 12-track record features performances from Cieri, guitarist John Newsome, and drummer Abel Tabares.
Ahead of the full album release, the band dropped the lead single “Enemy,” a track inspired by personal conflict. Cieri noted that the single represents a shift toward confronting past experiences and writing more direct, personal material.
The band recorded the album in Nashville after signing with BMG, deciding to scrap a previously completed follow-up to their debut album An Attempt at Romantic. The project includes contributions from songwriter Desmond Child, who worked with Cieri on the track “Here to California.”
Prior to forming Nicotine Dolls in 2018, Cieri busked in the New York City subway system and later starred in the national tour of the musical Once. The current record marks the band’s first full-length project created with Newsome in the official lineup.
Nicotine Dolls will perform at the Blue Stone Arts & Music Festival in Sandy Springs, Georgia, on September 25. Following the festival appearance, the group will launch a tour across the United Kingdom and Europe in October.
