Paul McCartney has released “Home to Us,” marking his first-ever duet with Ringo Starr. The single is the second track to be revealed from McCartney’s upcoming album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane.

The song features Starr on drums—the only guest drummer to appear on the new record—and includes backing vocals from Chrissie Hynde and Sharleen Spiteri. McCartney, who plays the majority of the instruments on the album, developed the track specifically with Starr in mind after the two collaborated with producer Andrew Watt.

“In writing the song I’m talking about where we came from,” McCartney said. “In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing and you build yourself up. Ringo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard. He said he used to get mugged coming home, because he worked. Even though it was crazy, it was home to us.”

The duet formed after McCartney encouraged Starr to sing more than just a few lines of the chorus. “So we took my first line, Ringo’s second line, and then we had a duet. We’d never done that before,” McCartney added.

The Boys of Dungeon Lane is McCartney’s first solo album in over five years and serves as an introspective collection of stories regarding his childhood in post-war Liverpool and his early years with George Harrison and John Lennon.

The full album, which includes 14 tracks such as “Days We Left Behind” and “Life Can Be Hard,” is scheduled for release on May 29 via MPL/Capitol Records. Click here to order The Boys of Dungeon Lane.
