Grammy Award-winning musician Billy Strings has released his new 16-track album, So Much for Goodbyes, through Reprise Records. Co-produced by Strings and T Bone Burnett, the project reflects a personal period of grief following the passing of his mother, Debra Apostol, who created the original artwork for the record.
The physical release is available on black, wood grain, and sun core vinyl variants, with plating and pressing completed at Denver’s Paramount Pressing & Plating. Jeff Powell cut the vinyl masters at Take Out Vinyl in Memphis, Tennessee, completing an all-domestic production process.
Ahead of the release, Strings discussed the album and his career evolution in an interview with The New York Times. The release also follows his third career Grammy Award win for Best Bluegrass Album for his previous project, Highway Prayers, which reached the top spot on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.
To support the release, Strings will extend his headline tour into the winter with newly added multi-night runs. Confirmed stops include five nights at ExploreAsheville.com Arena in Asheville, two nights at Gas South Arena in Duluth, two nights at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, and an additional show at the Ryman Auditorium, with tickets going on sale September 11.
This weekend, Strings is hosting his first annual sold-out Ionia Freak Fair, featuring performances by Sierra Hull, Greensky Bluegrass, and other guest artists. The musician also received six nominations at the upcoming 37th Annual IBMA Awards and recently filmed a performance for the 52nd season of Austin City Limits on PBS.
