HBO to debut original film ‘Miss You, Love You’ starring Allison Janney and Andrew Rannells

HBO announced this week that its original film “Miss You, Love You” will premiere Friday, May 29, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. The film, written and directed by Academy Award winner Jim Rash, stars Academy Award and Emmy winner Allison Janney alongside two-time Tony nominee Andrew Rannells.
The film follows Diane Patterson (Janney), a blunt, grieving widow forced to plan her husband’s funeral with Jamie Simms (Rannells), the assistant to her estranged son. According to the production logline, the story explores how their partnership becomes an unlikely conduit for healing as buried secrets and long-held resentments surface during their “darkly funny circumstances.”
The cast also includes Bonnie Hunt as Judith Bibbs, Suzy Nakamura as Kathy, Oscar Nuñez as Minister, and Lisa Schurga as Nance. Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, praised the lead performances, stating that Janney and Rannells deliver “beautifully calibrated performances as Diane and Jamie, two people bound by loss.”
Producers Kevin Walsh, Nat Faxon, Gigi Pritzker, and Rachel Shane described the project as an intimate, character-driven story about “unexpected connection and humor in the midst of profound loss.” Rash expressed his excitement about the film’s release, noting that HBO serves as “the perfect home” for the project.
“Miss You, Love You” will be available to stream on HBO Max concurrently with its cable debut. The film is produced by Walsh, Faxon, Pritzker, and Shane for Madison Wells, with Michael Bowes serving as executive producer.
