Foo Fighters released their 12th studio album, “Your Favorite Toy,” on Friday via Roswell Records/RCA Records. The 15-time Grammy Award-winning band’s latest project follows months of anticipation and several teaser singles that showcased a return to a heavy, garage-rock sound.

The album features 10 tracks, including the title track and the previously released “Asking For A Friend,” “Of All People,” and “Caught In The Echo.” The Associated Press described “Caught In The Echo” as a “thunderous tone-setter,” while The New York Times characterized the title track as “back-to-basics garage-rock delivered in a welter of noisy guitars.”

Coinciding with the album’s arrival, the band released a music video for the song “Window.” Directed by Jake Erland and based on a concept by Dave Grohl, the video stars actor Craig Parkinson as a window cleaner scaling a skyscraper. The visual narrative follows Parkinson as he observes the inhabitants of the building from the outside, remaining largely invisible to those within.

Recorded at home, “Your Favorite Toy” was co-produced by the band and Oliver Roman. The album was engineered by Roman and mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent. The current Foo Fighters lineup consists of Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee, and Ilan Rubin.

The release follows a series of unannounced intimate club performances last fall in cities such as Washington, D.C., and San Luis Obispo, California. These surprise shows have led to speculation regarding whether the band will continue to perform spontaneous “underplay” sets during the current album cycle.

The band will support the new record with the “Take Cover” world tour, which begins April 28 with a sold-out performance at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The tour includes festival appearances at Welcome to Rockville and Bottlerock, followed by a European leg starting June 10 in Oslo, Norway. The North American stadium leg will begin Aug. 4 in Toronto, featuring support from Queens of the Stone Age and Mannequin Pussy.
