Maggie Gyllenhaal’s ‘The Bride!’ to begin streaming exclusively on HBO Max May 22

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Bride!” will make its global streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max on Friday, May 22.
The film, which was written, directed, and produced by Maggie Gyllenhaal, will also make its linear television debut on HBO on Saturday, May 23, at 8 p.m. ET.
Set in 1930s Chicago, the movie follows a lonely “Frank” who travels to the city to seek the help of a groundbreaking scientist, Dr. Euphronious, in creating a companion. The two succeed in reviving a murdered young woman, resulting in the birth of The Bride and sparking a series of events involving murder, possession, a radical cultural movement, and a romance between outlaw lovers.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Academy Award winners Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, and Penélope Cruz, alongside Academy Award nominees Annette Bening and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Simultaneous with the primary release, a specialized version of “The Bride!” featuring American Sign Language (ASL) will also stream on HBO Max starting May 22. The ASL version features a performance by ASL dubber Yamila Davis and was directed by Rosa Lee Timm, whose previous credits include “Sinners with BASL” and “Minecraft with ASL.”
In addition to Gyllenhaal, the film was produced by Oscar nominees Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler, and Osnat Handelsman Keren. Carla Raji, David Webb, and Courtney Kivowitz served as executive producers on the project.
