Willow Avalon releases new single ‘Hypothetically Speaking’ ahead of sophomore album
Breakout country vocalist and songwriter Willow Avalon has released her new single, “Hypothetically Speaking,” featuring acclaimed country artist Kaitlin Butts.
The track serves as the latest preview of Avalon’s upcoming sophomore studio album, Pink Pocket Pistol, which is scheduled for release on June 26 via Atlantic Outpost/Assemble Sound.
“Hell hath no fury like two big haired southern women,” Avalon said of the collaboration.
The new single is accompanied by an official music video and follows the release of previous album tracks “Easy On The Eyes” and “Cardinal Sin,” the latter of which features singer-songwriter Jason Isbell.
“Pink Pocket Pistol is a mix of the lyricism and sassy storylines I’ve continuously written, with more darkness, mystery and a ‘60s country feel,” Avalon shared. “I went in with an idea in my head, and we walked out a week later with it fully executed. Every single person in the room was on the exact same page. It felt wonderful hearing the record out of speakers—after really, intensive, hard work—exactly what I heard in my head.”
The album follow-up arrives after Avalon’s January 2025 debut record, Southern Belle Raisin’ Hell. Following her debut LP and a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, Avalon was named as part of the 2026 Opry NextStage class.
The Georgia native, who is now based in Nashville, recently completed a performance at the Stagecoach music festival and announced a massive North American headline tour for this summer and fall. The tour itinerary includes stops at Webster Hall in New York, The Fonda in Los Angeles, the Phoenix Theatre in Toronto, Royale in Boston, and the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.
Later this month, Avalon is scheduled to perform as a supporting act for country duo Brooks & Dunn. She is also slated to return to CMA Fest for two performances, including a scheduled set at Nissan Stadium.
Avalon has previously performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and CBS Mornings, and has appeared at international festivals including Lollapalooza and C2C. She has shared stages with a variety of artists, including Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Zach Bryan, Cage the Elephant, Paul Cauthen, and Charles Wesley Godwin.
