Singer, songwriter, and producer Joy Oladokun will release a new 12-track album titled Hope Is A Heavy Thing on September 25 through Concord Records. In conjunction with the album announcement, Oladokun released a new single titled “Kind.”

The upcoming album was produced by Oladokun with additional contributions from Nigerian producer Spellz. Recorded across Nashville, New York, and tour locations, the project features a collaboration with Nigerian artist Adekunle Gold and includes the previously released track “Zombie.”

Sonically, the project incorporates influences from folk, soul, pop, rock, and afrobeats. Oladokun wrote the collection of songs to explore themes of identity, connection, self-discovery, and personal background.
