Apple Original Films has released the teaser trailer and key art for Being Heumann, a new feature film directed by Academy Award winner Siân Heder. The release marks Heder’s second project with Apple Original Films following her Best Picture-winning feature CODA.
Being Heumann chronicles the life of disability rights activist Judy Heumann, played by Ruth Madeley. The narrative focuses on the 1977 occupation of a federal building led by a coalition of young adults fighting against discrimination, which became the longest federal building takeover in United States history.
The cast includes Mark Ruffalo as the government official targeted by the protest. Based on true events, the screenplay details the origins of the movement and the group’s efforts to force administrative action.
The film will serve as the opening feature at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10. Following its festival screening, the movie will open in select theaters on November 6, 2026.
Being Heumann will then begin streaming globally on Apple TV on Friday, November 13, 2026.
