A new short film featuring a conversation between Paul McCartney and actor Paul Mescal will debuted on Monday, May 25. The project serves as an introduction to McCartney’s upcoming studio album.

The film, titled The Boys of Dungeon Lane, is directed by Charlotte Wells with concept and creative direction by David Lane. It will stream exclusively on Amazon Live and within the Amazon Music app.

The production offers an intimate look at the memories, relationships, and events that informed McCartney’s new music. Mescal guides the dialogue. The actor is set to portray McCartney in Sam Mendes’ upcoming project, The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event.

During the conversation, the pair discusses specific tracks from the upcoming release. These include “Down South,” “Home to Us,” “Lost Horizon,” “Salesman Saint,” and “Days We Left Behind.”

The discussion covers McCartney’s songwriting process alongside early memories of his parents and former bandmates.

“It was one of the greatest personal and professional privileges of my life to sit down with Paul,” Mescal said regarding the project. “To hear the stories behind The Boys of Dungeon Lane. To hear about his creative process.”

The full album releases on Friday, May 29, via MPL and Capitol Records. It features the lead single “Days We Left Behind” and a duet with Ringo Starr on the track “Home to Us.”

According to the release, the album focuses heavily on McCartney’s childhood in post-war Liverpool. The songs address the resilience of his parents and his early experiences with John Lennon and George Harrison before the rise of global fame.

An exclusive white vinyl edition of the record is currently available for pre-order through the official Paul McCartney store on Amazon. The digital album will be available to stream on Amazon Music starting May 29.
