Caliwater introduced its new Dragon Fruit flavor with singer Benson Boone at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles on Sunday. The launch included surprise appearances from Boone, Caliwater co-founder Vanessa Hudgens and Demi Lovato.
Thousands of fans and passersby gathered throughout the afternoon. Caliwater street teams, beverage carts and coolers kept the new flavor flowing, and more than 5,000 samples were handed out. Some were poured from the tap of the brand’s oversized bathtub installation, a visual centerpiece of Caliwater’s upcoming campaign.
Hudgens opened the afternoon with a surprise appearance before Boone joined the crowd. Boone handed out cans of Dragon Fruit himself and stopped to greet and hug fans. Lovato closed out the event with an appearance of her own.
Boone’s curated Dragon Fruit flavor expands Caliwater’s lineup of functional cactus water beverages made from prickly pear cactus fruit. Boone regularly drinks Caliwater while on tour as part of his hydration routine, which made the new flavor a natural extension of that connection.
“Dragon Fruit is bright, refreshing and really easy to drink, exactly the kind of flavor we want in the Caliwater lineup,” said Oliver Trevena, co-founder of Caliwater. He said the company plans to keep adding flavors that deliver both function and great taste.
Caliwater is made from sustainably sourced prickly pear cactus fruit. It contains five naturally occurring electrolytes, antioxidants including betalains, and vitamins C and E, with no artificial sweeteners or additives. The company designed it for everyday hydration, from workouts and travel to rehearsals and long days on the go.
Hudgens and Trevena founded Caliwater, which has expanded nationally through growing retail distribution and partnerships with cultural figures. Those collaborations include flavor development with Lovato and Boone.
