Keith Urban is heading in a different musical direction with the release of Flow State, a new album built around the sounds of classic yacht rock.

Released June 12 through MCA, the project features 10 yacht rock covers along with one original song, “We Go Back,” featuring Michael McDonald. The album was produced by Urban and Dann Huff and recorded at Urban’s Nashville studio, The Sound.
Flow State also includes collaborations with Little Big Town and John Mayer. Previously released tracks from the project include “Steal Away,” “We Go Back,” “Summer Breeze,” and “Magnet and Steel.”
Urban described the album as one of the most unexpected projects of his career.
“Creating Flow State was one of the most unexpected albums I’ve ever made,” Urban said. “In a lot of ways, it felt like the whole album had an energy and life of its own and I was just following where it lead me.”
He said the songs connected with him through their simplicity and lasting appeal.
“There’s a reason these songs have stood the test of time, and equally so, the need for their spirit of fully disconnecting from ‘the grid’ and swimming in blue sky simplicity,” Urban said.
The album revisits songs that helped shape Urban’s own musical influences while putting his interpretation on well-known yacht rock recordings. According to the release, the project includes versions of songs such as “Summer Breeze,” “Baby Come Back,” and “Just the Two of Us.”
Flow State marks Urban’s 13th studio album.
The release follows HIGH, which featured songs including “Heart Like A Hometown,” “Straight Line,” “Go Home W U” with Lainey Wilson, and “Messed Up As Me.” It also comes after Urban’s High and Alive Tour, which concluded in October 2025.
Throughout his career, Urban has earned four Grammy Awards, 13 CMA Awards, 15 ACM Awards, three American Music Awards and two People’s Choice Awards. His catalog has generated more than 11 billion streams and includes nine consecutive gold, platinum or multi-platinum albums.
Beyond recording and touring, Urban has served as a judge on American Idol in the United States, a coach on The Voice in Australia, and has been inducted into both the Grand Ole Opry and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
His career has also included collaborations with artists such as Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Jelly Roll, Justin Timberlake, Miranda Lambert, P!nk, Post Malone, The Rolling Stones and Vince Gill.
Urban’s charitable efforts include the All For The Hall benefit concerts, which have raised $4.3 million for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. He has also served as the first Artist Ambassador of the CMA Foundation and supports St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The Mr. Holland’s Opus Fund and The Grammy Foundation.
