The 11th annual Hinterland Music Festival concluded this past weekend after four days of performances in Saint Charles, Iowa. The independently owned event drew thousands of attendees to the rural site located just outside Des Moines.

This year’s lineup featured headlining sets from KATSEYE, Lorde, Mumford & Sons, and Kali Uchis. KATSEYE opened the weekend on Thursday, marking the group’s first time headlining a festival.

Founder and producer Sam Summers curated the 2026 lineup to include pop, indie, rock, R&B, Latin, folk, and alternative music. The festival grounds offered art installations, outdoor activities, scenic trails, and vendor spaces through the regional HinterMarket.

Organizers have announced that the festival will return in 2027 from July 30 through August 1. Early access to tickets at lower pricing is currently available through registration on the festival website.

Established in 2015, the annual event combines live music with outdoor camping and family activities. Past lineups have featured artists such as Chappell Roan, Zach Bryan, Leon Bridges, Willie Nelson, Hozier, and Noah Kahan.
