The soundtrack and film for Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning will be released Dec. 11 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, CD, 2LP vinyl, and digital. The release follows the film’s worldwide cinematic debut on Oct. 28. Pre-orders begin today, and Ozzy Osbourne’s “Mr. Crowley” track and video are available now.
The concert took place July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. It was Osbourne’s last performance and a farewell to his fans in his hometown, 17 days before his death. He reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, marking the group’s first performance together in more than 20 years.
The sold-out show drew more than three million requests for 44,000 tickets and was watched by a record-breaking global live audience. Jason Momoa hosted, and Tom Morello served as musical director. Sets came from Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Gojira, Guns N’ Roses, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Metallica, Pantera, Rival Sons, Slayer and Tool. All-star segments featured guests including Billy Corgan, Sammy Hagar, Steven Tyler, Ronnie Wood, Travis Barker, Nuno Bettencourt and Yungblud.
The film is presented in Dolby Atmos, as well as Dolby 2.1 and 5.1. Physical formats include a 2-disc Blu-ray and CD edition, and a 2LP vinyl and 2-disc Blu-ray collection. Limited-edition colored vinyl variants include grey splatter at Ozzy’s store, purple splatter at the Black Sabbath store, and metallic vinyl at specialty and indie shops. A digital album is also available.
The Blu-ray runs three and a half hours and features highlights from the July 5 performances. It includes Jack Black performing “Mr. Crowley” and Fred Durst performing “Changes.” Bonus features include a behind-the-scenes featurette, video tributes from Dolly Parton, AC/DC, Ricky Gervais and others, and a “Sounds of Birmingham” documentary.
A Deluxe Box Set with expanded music, memorabilia and collectibles is available to pre-order from Oct. 28 and will be released in April 2027. It includes a bonus HD Blu-ray with all 35 songs and covers performed by special guests.
“Back to the Beginning was a once-in-a-lifetime event that will go down in music history,” said Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy Osbourne’s wife and manager, who oversaw the concert and executive-produced the film. “Ozzy suffered from chronic pain during the final six years of his life. His only wish was to perform one last time to thank his fans and say goodbye.”
Ben Wainwright-Pearce directed the film for the screen, and Tim van Someren directed the live concert. Mercury Studios produced the film and is releasing the soundtrack worldwide. Trafalgar Releasing brought it to cinemas around the world.
