High-grossing documentary EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert comes to Paramount+ this month
Baz Luhrmann’s concert film, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, is headed to streaming. Paramount+ announced that the documentary will debut exclusively on its platform in the U.S. on June 3. Viewers in Canada can stream the film starting July 24.
The project follows a global theatrical run where it broke the record for the highest-grossing opening weekend for a documentary in IMAX. It originally debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival and currently holds a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film serves as Luhrmann’s second major project focused on Elvis Presley, following his eight-time Academy Award-nominated biopic, Elvis. For this production, Luhrmann partnered with director Jonathan Redmond and Peter Jackson’s team at Park Road Post Production to restore and elevate archival media.
The documentary features long-lost footage from Presley’s 1970s Las Vegas residency. It also integrates rare 16mm footage from Elvis on Tour, 8mm film from the Graceland archive, and previously unheard audio recordings.
Luhrmann stated that the team discovered a unique treasure trove of material during production. He noted that the specific goal was to reveal Presley in his prime and create a project that went beyond a standard documentary or concert film.
The project is produced by Sony Music Vision, Bazmark Films, and Authentic Studios. NEON handled the United States theatrical distribution, while Elevation Pictures managed the Canadian release.
Alongside the debut of the new documentary, Paramount+ is offering a curated collection of classic Presley titles for U.S. subscribers. The streaming lineup includes Blue Hawaii, King Creole, G.I. Blues, Fun in Acapulco, and Roustabout.
