Streaming platform discovery+ has rolled out a new play-listed channels feature across all devices and subscription tiers in the U.S. The update introduces curated, continuous-play channels featuring popular franchises alongside live programming from NASA+.
The new channels allow subscribers to drop into always-on feeds of specific television series and thematic content. Available franchise channels at launch include 90 Day Universe, Beat Bobby Flay, Deadliest Catch, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Evil Lives Here, Ghost Adventures, Gold Rush, and House Hunters.
The expansion also brings two distinct NASA+ channels to the platform, including NASA+ Live Earth Views, which streams a continuous 24/7 view from the International Space Station. The NASA+ options include live events, official announcements, and space footage streaming in Dolby Vision on supported devices.
Through the integration with NASA+, select special events, including the upcoming Artemis III mission, will also be carried on HBO Max in Dolby Vision. According to Neal Roberts, Distinguished Engineer for Video Platform at Warner Bros. Discovery, the partnership brings space exploration content to subscribers with enhanced picture clarity and detail.
Navigation functions vary depending on the channel selected within the app and website interface. When users select a NASA+ stream, they enter at the live point of playback, while users opening a curated franchise channel will begin at the start of the episode currently playing with standard playback controls available.
