Firehouse Subs is marking National First Responders Day with the Firehouse Subs K-9 Crew, a limited-edition collection of plush pups inspired by three real-life K-9 heroes. The plushies go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 28, for $9.95 each while supplies last. All net profits benefit the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The collection honors K-9 Stone, K-9 Ember and K-9 Echo, who serve their communities through search and rescue, fire safety education and police work. Stone is a Golden Retriever and search-and-rescue K-9 who has responded to major disasters nationwide, including the Surfside condominium collapse. Ember is a Dalmatian who serves with the Sevierville Fire Department in Tennessee, where she teaches the community about fire safety.
Echo is a German Shepherd who joined the Sartell Police Department in Minnesota in 2023 through a Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant. He has helped locate missing people and detect potential threats. “Behind every K-9 Crew pup is a real hero making a difference in their community,” said Robin Peters, executive director of the foundation.
Firehouse Subs is also offering a one-day fundraiser on Oct. 28. The brand will donate 100% of every Hook & Ladder purchase, excluding taxes, to the foundation. The sub has been on the menu since the brand was founded in 1994 and features smoked turkey breast, honey ham and melted Monterey Jack cheese. The fundraiser applies to in-restaurant, app and online purchases of the sandwich itself. It excludes combos, upsizes, add-ons, catering and third-party delivery orders.
The plushies are sold only in-store at participating U.S. Firehouse Subs restaurants and are not available on Firehouse Rewards digital orders or third-party apps. Of each $9.95 plushie, $6.16 (excluding taxes) goes to the foundation. More information is available at firehousesubs.com/k9crew.
“As a brand founded by firefighters, honoring those who answer the call is at the heart of everything we do,” said Mike Hancock, president of Firehouse Subs. The Public Safety Foundation was established in 2005 and has awarded more than $112 million in lifesaving equipment and resources to first responders and public safety organizations across the U.S.
