Blue Bottle Coffee announced Notes in Repose, its first compilation album released on limited-edition vinyl. The project celebrates the company’s Signature Blends with contemporary jazz compositions and ambient recordings captured inside Blue Bottle cafes across North America and Asia.

The album features 11 jazz tracks from artists representing nine cafe markets, including Gary Bartz, Adrian Younge, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Makaya McCraven, Jeff Parker, Angel Bat Dawid, and the Kyoto Jazz Sextet. The release connects the art of musical composition with coffee blending, drawing inspiration from the company’s bold Giant Steps blend named after John Coltrane’s 1960 album.

The project reflects the company’s historical ties to jazz and Japanese jazz kissas, which emphasize focused listening alongside coffee service. Founder James Freeman worked as a clarinetist prior to opening the first Blue Bottle location, shaping the brand’s aesthetic and approach to coffee presentation.

The physical release is limited to 1,500 copies and will be available starting Oct. 6, 2026, through the Blue Bottle Coffee website while supplies last. The companion Giant Steps coffee blend remains available year-round online and at retail cafe locations.

Blue Bottle Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster and retailer headquartered in Oakland, California. The company operates network cafes and roasteries across major urban markets in North America and Asia.
