The Virginia Wine Board launched the 39th annual Virginia Wine Month on Oct. 1, 2026. The monthlong celebration highlights the state’s grape harvest through vineyard tours, dinners, tastings, and special events hosted at wineries and restaurants.
Statewide festivities include the Virginia Wine Tasting Passes, which provide access to special offers along regional wine trails, including the Gold Medal Wine Trail. Additional passes spotlight female wine producers, dog-friendly locations, regional cideries, and wines produced from Virginia’s native Norton grape.
The statewide Harvest Party is scheduled for Oct. 17, encouraging local businesses, retailers, and restaurants to gather for seasonal food and wine pairings. As part of the initiative, the organization released the Virginia Wine Harvest Party Cookbook, which provides pairing guides and recipes designed for home gatherings.
Event schedules and digital tasting passes are available through the official Virginia Wine website. Participants can access trip-planning resources and regional itineraries online throughout the month.
Virginia is home to more than 300 wineries cultivating over 30 grape varieties across diverse agricultural landscapes. The state’s wine industry contributes to local tourism, agriculture, and retail communities through direct production and culinary partnerships.
