Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black was celebrated in full at a one-night-only concert at The Roundhouse in London’s Camden Town on October 21. The show marked 20 years since the album’s release on October 27, 2006.
Original album producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi led the evening, joined by Amy’s longtime musical director Dale Davis, producers Paul O’Duffy and p*nut, and Darcus Beese OBE. The Amy Winehouse Band performed the album front to back with a lineup of guest vocalists.
Baby Rose, Corinne Bailey Rae, FLO, Jessie Reyez, Jorja Smith, Lianne La Havas, Nia Smith, Sasha Keable, Skye Newman, Terri Walker and Yebba each took on songs from the record. Corinne Bailey Rae sang “Back to Black,” Yebba took “Love Is a Losing Game,” Lianne La Havas performed “You Know I’m No Good,” and Jessie Reyez delivered “Rehab.” All of the artists then joined for “Valerie,” the song by The Zutons that Amy made her own.
“It’s crazy that six songs made in a fit of furious musical infatuation would matter so deeply to so many people twenty years later,” Ronson said. Remi called Amy “one of one,” describing her as a one-of-a-kind artist, spirit and soul.
The performances will stream on the BBC’s YouTube channel on the evening of Saturday, October 24. They will also air on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds on Monday, October 26, from noon to 2 p.m. PT, within Jo Whiley’s show. BBC Radio 6 Music marked Amy’s legacy on Thursday, October 22, with Amy Winehouse Forever.
Back to Black debuted at No. 3 on the UK Official Albums Chart, later reached No. 1 and became the best-selling album of 2007. It has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide and earned a 15x Platinum certification in the UK.
In the United States, the album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at No. 2 after Amy won five Grammys, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. It is now certified double Platinum by the RIAA and has topped charts across Europe, including in Austria, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland.
UMR/Island will reissue the album in special deluxe expanded formats on Friday, October 23, 2026. The editions include unreleased demos, rare B-sides, a live performance from Paradiso in Amsterdam recorded on the Back to Black tour, and previously unseen photographs by Mischa Richter and Alex Lake. They also feature new liner notes from Ronson and Remi.
