Glenn Close to be honored with hand and footprint ceremony at TCM Classic Film Festival

Academy Award-nominated actress Glenn Close will be immortalized in Hollywood history with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre on May 1, Turner Classic Movies announced.

The ceremony will take place as a centerpiece of the 2026 TCM Classic Film Festival, which runs from April 30 through May 3. Close joins an elite roster of cinema legends whose imprints are preserved in the concrete forecourt of the historic movie palace.

With a career spanning more than four decades across film, television, and stage, Close has earned eight Academy Award nominations and collected multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and Tony Awards. She is widely recognized for her transformative roles in “The Big Chill,” “Fatal Attraction,” “Albert Nobbs,” and “The Wife.”

“I’ll never forget seeing her in ‘The Big Chill,’ delivering a memorably layered performance that revealed the extraordinary talent, intelligence and emotional depth that have defined her career ever since,” said Ben Mankiewicz, TCM primetime host and official host of the festival. “More than four decades later, Glenn Close continues to captivate audiences.”

In addition to the ceremony, Close will appear at the festival to present a special screening of the 1988 period drama “Dangerous Liaisons.” Her performance as the Marquise de Merteuil in the film earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

The 2026 edition of the TCM Classic Film Festival will feature four days of screenings and special events throughout Hollywood, aimed at celebrating the enduring legacy of classic cinema.

Close’s ceremony is scheduled for the morning of Friday, May 1, at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. Tickets and schedule information for the festival are available through the official TCM Classic Film Festival website.
