Six Flags Great Adventure announced the development of Shoreline Pier, a new themed area designed to replicate the atmosphere of New Jersey’s iconic wooden boardwalks, scheduled to open in late spring 2026.

The expansion introduces five family-friendly attractions, including a new spinning coaster, “Barrels O’ Fun,” and the “Hypno Twister,” a modern high-speed centrifugal ride. The area also marks the return of the “Wave Swinger,” a classic swing ride that pays homage to the park’s original “Flying Wave” which operated from 1974 to 2007.

“Shoreline Pier celebrates everything people love about New Jersey’s legendary boardwalks — the motion, the magic, the tastes, and the thrills,” said Michael Fehnel, park manager of Six Flags Great Adventure.

In addition to the rides, the pier will feature a heavy emphasis on regional “Jersey Shore” culinary staples. The menu includes “disco fries” topped with gravy and mozzarella, “Gabagool On-a-Stick,” and a variety of over-the-top funnel cakes, such as the “Holey Cannoli” and a blueberry-themed “Roundup” celebrating the state’s official fruit.

The development is part of a multiyear transformation of the park’s Boardwalk section. Park officials also confirmed that this investment serves as a precursor to a major new roller coaster slated for a 2027 debut.

During the summer months, the area will host “Boardwalk Nights,” a limited-time event featuring stilt walkers, live musicians, and acrobatic stage performances after sunset.

The park officially opened its 2026 season to the public on March 28, currently featuring the Safari Spring Break Celebration. Other park-wide improvements this year include significant track work on the “El Toro” wooden coaster to provide a smoother ride experience and the return of the Safari Off Road Adventure, which allows guests to view 1,200 animals from inside the theme park.
