Boston-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist John Gerard has officially released his latest album, titled Threads. The ten-song record, which reflects four decades of songwriting experience, focuses on the themes of family life, personal history, and human connection.
The album is available online through the artist’s official website, led by the featured single “New England.” The opening track explores the emotional weight of home, memory, and leaving familiar places behind, setting the tone for the rest of the collection.
Born in Paris and raised in Massachusetts, Gerard has spent his music career writing about everyday moments. His past work includes a feature in The Boston Globe, an appearance in the documentary Subway Serenade, and an opening performance for Lori McKenna at Club Passim.
The foundation of Threads stems heavily from Gerard’s personal journey through early adulthood addiction and recovery. The stories and family experiences he encountered while rebuilding his life deeply influenced the themes present across the record’s ten tracks.
Gerard currently splits his time performing across New England, moving between busking in Boston subway stations and playing intimate listening rooms, house concerts, and local coffee shops.
