United Way announces Americana 250 Cycling Classic in Ohio

The United Way of Greater Dayton Area is hosting the United Way Americana 250 Cycling Classic on Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Greene County Fairgrounds and Expo Center in Xenia, Ohio. The event commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States while raising funds for regional community programs. Running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event forms part of the Tour de Gem Cycling Series.

Cyclists of all ages and skill levels can select from four distinct paved trail routes that start and end at 120 Fairground Road. Options include the 10-mile Liberty Ride, the 25-mile Pioneer Expedition, the 40-mile Heritage Quest, and the 64-mile Patriot Tour metric century route. Greene County was selected as the focal point for the event due to its paved trail network, which is the largest in the nation.

While cycling participants pay a registration fee, the on-site festival grounds remain free and open to the public. Known as the Heritage Hub, the fairgrounds area will feature food trucks, vendor displays, live demonstrations, and the Young Explorer Zone with a specialized bike course for young children.

Proceeds from the event directly support United Way of Greater Dayton Area initiatives across Montgomery, Greene, and Preble counties. Funded services focus on local youth opportunities, financial security, health initiatives, and community resiliency.

Organization leadership stated that the initiative aims to unite regional residents around local history and healthy living while building a recurring staple for Greene County and the Miami Valley. Local businesses and organizations can still secure sponsorship packages ranging from corporate partnerships to rest stop options, and vendor spaces remain open for registration.
