National tour of Mark Twain Tonight! expands to 38 cities following New York engagement

Actor Richard Thomas will star in a one-night-only performance of Mark Twain Tonight! at The Town Hall in New York City on November 2, 2026. Following the New York appearance, Thomas will launch a 2027 national tour visiting 38 cities across 35 states from January through May 2027.

The solo play features the writings, humor, and commentary of author Mark Twain. Written and originally performed by Hal Holbrook, the production marks Thomas as the first and only actor authorized to perform the work.

The New York engagement serves as a benefit performance for The Entertainment Community Fund and takes place on the eve of the 2026 midterm elections. The event will feature a post-show talkback with author Ron Chernow.

Tickets for the Town Hall performance are available through The Entertainment Community Fund website. Further schedule details and ticketing access for the upcoming 2027 tour stops are managed through the official production website.

The production completed a 2025-2026 tour that visited 46 cities and played to over 55,000 theatergoers after launching in Hartford, Connecticut. Thomas, an Emmy Award winner for The Waltons and a 2026 Tony Award nominee for The Balusters, was named a 2025 inductee into the Theater Hall of Fame.
