Tori Amos releases new single ‘Gasoline Girls’ ahead of May album launch

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Tori Amos released her latest single, “Gasoline Girls,” offering a new look at her forthcoming studio album, In Times of Dragons.
The track serves as the third single from the album, following “Stronger Together” and “Shush.” Due for release on May 1 via Universal/Fontana, In Times of Dragons is a narrative project that follows a fictionalized version of Amos escaping a powerful husband and journeying across an allegorical American landscape.
In the album’s story, the “Gasoline Girls” are a rebellious collective—described as a lesbian motorcycle gang—who assist the protagonist in her flight. Amos uses the characters to explore themes of solidarity and defiance.
“This is a metaphor for many different transformations — from a teenage girl becoming a woman, to shifts in gender identity or fundamental belief systems, to the life changes that come with pregnancy, motherhood and eventually menopause,” Amos said in a statement. “The song explores the emotions that come with leaving one version of yourself behind and stepping into another.”
The album marks a continuation of a career spanning more than 35 years for the nine-time Grammy nominee, who has sold over 12 million albums worldwide. The overarching narrative of the record involves the protagonist eventually transforming into a dragon to confront the forces pursuing her.
Amos will support the new release with her most extensive tour in over a decade. The 2026 tour includes dates across the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States, including a performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
