A retired veteran made history on “The Price Is Right” during a special Mother’s Day episode, winning more than $240,000 in cash and prizes. The win marks the largest prize ever awarded in a single pricing game in the 54-year history of the daytime show on CBS.

Vanesa, a contestant from Virginia, surpassed the previous record of $210,000, which was set during a game of Cliffhangers in 2016.

The record-breaking win occurred during “The Lion’s Share,” a high-stakes game introduced this season. To play, contestants must guess the prices of grocery items to earn up to five balls, which are then dropped into a wind tunnel to reveal hidden prize amounts. After each reveal, players must decide whether to keep their winnings or risk them to continue.

Vanesa elected to push forward through every round, eventually revealing all five prizes. Her winnings included $227,500 in cash and a luxury trip for two to Morocco valued at $12,650, bringing her grand total to $240,150. Her daughter joined in the celebration from the audience as the final prize was revealed.

“The Price Is Right” is produced by Fremantle and executive produced by John Quinn. The program is broadcast weekdays on CBS and is available for streaming on Paramount+.
