Canon unveils EOS R6 V camera and power zoom lens targeted at content creators
Canon U.S.A., Inc. announced Wednesday the launch of the new full-frame EOS R6 V camera and the RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens, alongside a new suite of accessories designed for videographers and content creators.
The EOS R6 V joins the EOS V-series lineup with a focus on video capture, featuring a 32.5-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. The camera is designed for daily video production, offering 7K 60p RAW and 7K 30p Open Gate capabilities. To support handheld and gimbal use, the body includes robust in-body image stabilization and an internal cooling fan to allow for extended shooting times.
Additional technical specifications for the EOS R6 V include 4K recording up to 60p and uncropped 4K at 120p for high-quality slow motion. The camera body features a compact, flat design with a reduced profile, a dedicated vertical tripod mount, and an integrated zoom lever.
The RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens debuted as Canon’s first L-series lens to feature built-in power zoom. The lens maintains a constant f/4 aperture across its 20mm to 50mm focal range. Its internal optical zoom design is intended to maintain a balanced center of gravity for gimbal stability.
Canon also introduced several accessories, including the BR-E2 Wireless Remote Control and the HG-200TBR Multi-Function Tripod Grip. The tripod grip supports both horizontal and vertical formats and includes a dedicated movie record button and zoom levers.
New content creator kits were also announced, including the Creator Accessory Kit II and specialized video kits for the PowerShot V1 and EOS R50 V.
The EOS R6 V camera body is expected to be available in late June for an estimated retail price of $2,499.00. The RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens is also expected in late June, priced at approximately $1,399.00. The various accessories and creator kits are scheduled for release in late June and early July.
