Seventeen-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys appeared as a guest mentor and performer on the season finale of “American Idol” to mark the upcoming 25th anniversary of her debut album, Songs in A Minor.

During the three-hour finale, which aired Monday, May 11, on ABC and Disney+, Keys provided guidance to the Top 3 finalists before they took the stage for America’s final vote. Keys also performed a three-song set during the broadcast, which included a rendition of “Lovin’ U” alongside the three finalists and a performance of her hit single “Fallin’” with special guest artist Raye.

In tandem with the milestone, Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, has announced special 25th Anniversary Editions of Songs in A Minor, scheduled for release on June 26.

The expanded edition, which features the bonus studio tracks “Foolish Heart” and “Crazy (Mi Corazon),” will be released across three distinct vinyl color variants. The standard wide-release edition will be pressed on orange marbled vinyl. A crystal vin+rose vinyl variant will be distributed exclusively through independent record retailers, while a crystal clear 2LP version will be sold exclusively through Keys’ official online artist store. All three versions are currently available for pre-order.

Originally released in June 2001, Songs in A Minor debuted at No. 1 on the charts, won five Grammy Awards, and has been certified seven times platinum in the United States, selling more than 12 million copies globally. The album was inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress in 2022. The record’s lead single, “Fallin’,” spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was named to the Billboard Hot 100 Songs of the Decade list.

Since her debut, Keys has sold more than 65 million records worldwide. She is recognized as the No. 1 RIAA-certified Female R&B artist of the millennium, commanding 27.5 million certified digital sales and 20 million album sales in the United States.
