The supernatural horror film Passenger will begin streaming exclusively on Paramount+ in the United States on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026. The release follows the movie’s wide theatrical debut through Paramount Pictures earlier in the year on May 22.

Directed by André Øvredal, the feature follows a young couple whose van life journey becomes a nightmare after witnessing a highway accident. They soon discover that a demonic entity known as the Passenger has attached itself to them and intends to claim them both.

The cast features Jacob Scipio, Lou Llobell, and Melissa Leo. The film was written by Zachary Donohue and T.W. Burgess, with production handled by 18Hz and Coin Operated in association with Domain Entertainment.

Critical reception for the theatrical run included praise from Empire Magazine, which highlighted the film’s fast-paced scares and shock elements. The New York Times also commended Øvredal’s direction for building audience tension inside a disorienting setting.

Executive producers for the project include Jenny Hinkey, Nathan Samdahl, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary, with Walter Hamada and Gary Dauberman serving as producers.

The film joins a lineup of horror titles available on Paramount+, including the SmileA Quiet Place, and Screamfranchises. Other streaming additions on the platform include original horror films such as Apartment 7A and Vicious.
