Spirit Halloween has begun opening more than 1,550 store locations across North America for the 2026 season. The openings follow the retailer’s flagship grand opening event and mark the return of its temporary retail locations in communities throughout the United States and Canada.
For the new season, select stores will feature a Camp Harbor Lake theme inspired by campfire tales and 1980s horror films. Visitors to participating locations can walk through an abandoned cabin display featuring new animatronics, including the Trash Bandit, Willow Witch, Whirling Wendy, and Crackles.
Steven Silverstein, chief executive officer of Spirit Halloween, stated that visiting the stores has become an annual tradition for many fans. He added that the company aims to offer unique experiences each year through its in-store displays, exclusive costumes, decor, and animatronics.
The seasonal inventory includes costumes and collectibles based on franchises such as Spiderman, Toy Story, and Fortnite, alongside horror properties like Michael Myers and traditional themes like Greek mythology. Stores will also carry home decor items and yard-haunting animatronic displays.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Spirit of Children campaign, a fundraising effort that supports Child Life departments at more than 160 partner hospitals across North America. The campaign has raised over $164 million to date for therapeutic programs and sensory spaces, with a goal of raising $20 million in donations during the 2026 season.
Shoppers can participate in the fundraiser by making donations in-store or online during the season. All proceeds raised through the initiative go directly to partner hospital departments.
