Bushbranch and Surfdog Records will release The Road to Escondido: Enhanced Edition on Nov. 20 to mark the 20th anniversary of the collaborative album by Eric Clapton and J.J. Cale. Preorders for the new edition are currently available in digital formats, CD, and a 180-gram colored vinyl version.
The expanded release features three previously unreleased tracks recorded during the original studio sessions, along with three live recordings from Live in San Diego and updated liner notes. The first single, “Roll On,” has been released alongside an official music video and features guest performances by Billy Preston and John Mayer.
First released in 2006, The Road to Escondido marked the first full-length collaboration between Clapton and Cale after years of mutual admiration. The album blends influences from blues, rock, country, and folk to create a distinct sound across its tracks.
The announcement comes as Clapton continues his fall U.S. tour alongside special guest Jimmie Vaughan. The tour makes a stop at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sept. 15 before concluding at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, on Sept. 17.
Later this month, Clapton will host the Crossroads Guitar Festival 2026 from Sept. 26 to Sept. 27 at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. The seventh iteration of the festival celebrates the 28th anniversary of the founding of the Crossroads Centre Antigua and features performances by Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr., Billy Gibbons, Buddy Guy, and several other returning and debut artists.
