The Jim Henson Creature Shop has expanded the operating schedule for its public workshop tour in Queens by adding consecutive Sunday dates through September 6. The 80-minute guided experience was launched earlier this year with a recurring Saturday schedule. The decision to increase weekend tour availability follows a series of sold-out dates for the behind-the-scenes attraction.

Visitors to the New York City workshop can observe live puppetry demonstrations and speak directly with master puppet builders. The studio has updated the display rotation to feature selected personal items from founder Jim Henson to mark his upcoming birthday in September. The general tour pathway covers character construction techniques alongside access to exclusive retail merchandise.

The facility serves as the primary production site for prominent entertainment properties, including Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, and Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas. The staff has contributed puppet designs, animatronic creatures, and digital puppetry to the broader international film, television, and theater industries. Recent production credits include the film franchise Five Nights at Freddy’s and an upcoming episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

The workshop has earned an Academy Award for visual effects on the film Babe, alongside multiple Emmy Awards for puppet construction on Sesame Street. The organization also holds a Scientific and Engineering Academy Award for the Henson Performance Control System interface. Additional engineering credits include the Henson Digital Puppetry Studio, a patented technology system designed for performing computer-generated characters in real time.

General admission tickets for the regional Queens studio tours are listed at 150 dollars, excluding standard municipal taxes and processing fees. Booking operations and schedule updates are managed through the corporate digital portal dedicated to the company’s live events and theatrical productions. The organization also maintains a regular electronic newsletter to distribute updates regarding upcoming stage performances and interactive experiences.
