Musician Sierra Ferrell has released her first new single of 2026, titled “Trying to Love You“, through Rounder Records. The original solo track was written by Ferrell and produced by Gabriel Kelley.
The single features an expanded rhythm section that includes Kelley on percussion, piano, Wurlitzer, organ, and guitars. Additional musical support includes Matty Meyer on drums, Billy Contreras on fiddle, Pat Bergeson on harmonica, Viktor Krauss on bass, and backing vocals from Oliver Bates Craven, Geoff Saunders, and Joshua Rilko.
The song release coincides with an ongoing national concert series on the Heavy Petal Tour. Ferrell performs at the Outside Lands festival today as part of a schedule that includes nearly 50 tour dates across the United States.
The tour itinerary features performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre alongside scheduled arena dates supporting Mumford and Sons and The Red Clay Strays. The live performances feature a revised stage production that incorporates material from the 2024 album Trail of Flowers together with newly released music.
Ferrell previously collaborated with Mumford and Sons for live performances on Saturday Night Live and Apple Music Sessions. Her current tour run incorporates a mix of headline festival appearances, arena support slots, and sold-out venue dates across the country.
