Bananarama has released 40th anniversary reissues of their hit album True Confessions through London Records. The release coincides with the anniversary of their single “Venus” reaching the top spot on the US Billboard Top 100 and Billboard Dance Charts in August 1986.
True Confessions stands as the group’s most commercially successful international album, achieving Gold certification in the United States and Platinum in Canada. The original lineup—Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey, and Keren Woodward—earned international chart success with singles such as “Venus,” “Do Not Disturb,” “More Than Physical,” and “A Trick of the Night.” The album also marked the beginning of the band’s work with production team Stock Aitken Waterman.
To mark the milestone, London Records has reissued the album across multiple formats, including physical products available through the official Bananarama store. The band’s original members signed three special editions of the album featuring unique individual sleeves, member recollections, and a bonus secret track. While international inventory on the official site sold out, a final allocation of signed copies is available through Banquet Records with worldwide shipping.
The physical release lineup also features authentic 1986 merchandise, including T-shirts, tote bags, and badge sets. Additionally, three distinct digital versions carrying unique artwork have been launched across digital platforms for a limited time.
iTunes is hosting two exclusive digital releases: a Rarities Edition containing the lost “Kelly’s Eye” version of “Do Not Disturb,” and a Remix Edition featuring full 2026 remixes by Richard X, Luke Mornay, The Alias, and AMYL. Townsend Music is hosting an exclusive “Obsessions Of Your Mind” edition that includes digital polaroids.
