The annual migration of thousands of crows to the woods surrounding the Mansfield Art Center has inspired the return of CrowFest, a month-long fall event running from September 19 through October 18 in Mansfield, Ohio. The festival celebrates the arrival of the massive flocks, known as a murder of crows, through a fine art exhibition featuring hundreds of original works inspired by the birds.
The exhibition highlights the visual appeal and gothic reputation of crows, drawing on characteristics such as their black feathers, sharp beaks, distinct calls, and ability to recognize human faces. The event opens with an initial reception on September 19 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by an artists welcome and awards presentation at 6 p.m.
Visitors to CrowFest can view a handblown glass pumpkin patch, attend artist-led workshops, and watch live demonstrations at the glass Hot Shop. The Gallery Shop will offer fall art, gifts, and official CrowFest 2026 T-shirts for purchase throughout the exhibition.
The opening day features food vendors alongside craft beer from Phoenix Brewing Company, a local brewery located inside a former mortuary.
Located between Columbus and Cleveland, the city of Mansfield features additional autumn attractions including local pick-your-own apple and pumpkin farms, displays at Kingwood Center Gardens, outdoor recreational trails, and motor sports venues.
