The national tour of Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol will launch on November 14 in Princeton, West Virginia. Produced by Right Angle Entertainment and Paul T. Couch, the holiday musical is scheduled to visit more than 20 cities across the country.
The production features original music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, with a book written by David H. Bell. The stage adaptation was created by Bell, Couch, and Curt Wollan, bringing together traditional theater narrative with Parton’s songwriting style.
Set during the 1930s in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, the storyline reimagines the Ebenezer Scrooge character as the owner of a mining company town. Blinded by greed, Scrooge faces an approaching Christmas Eve snowstorm while receiving visits from his deceased business partner and three ghosts.
The narrative incorporates classic characters created by Charles Dickens, adapting the traditional redemption story into an American regional context. The production focuses on themes of family, compassion, and seasonal reflection rooted in the traditions of East Tennessee.
The upcoming national tour marks a continuation of Parton’s artistic contributions connected to the Great Smoky Mountains region where she was raised. Tickets for the scheduled performances across all tour cities are currently available for purchase.
