San Diego BMW Motorcycles has announced the next event in its 2026 group ride series, scheduled for Saturday, September 19. The upcoming excursion features a 165-mile scenic route centered around a climb up Palomar Mountain.
Participants will gather at 8:45 a.m. at the dealership location on Kearny Villa Road in San Diego for refreshments and a safety briefing before departing at 9 a.m. The scheduled ride route welcomes motorcyles of all makes and models, including riders of every experience level.
The travel route proceeds east on state Route 52 and north on state Route 67 through Lakeside and Ramona before following Highway 78 into Santa Ysabel. From there, riders will travel north on Highway 79 past Lake Henshaw and ascend East Grade Road to reach the Palomar Mountain General Store.
At the summit, participants will have time to regroup and explore a brief view toward the Palomar Observatory. The return journey descends East Grade Road back to Highway 79, following the highway south toward Interstate 8 and returning to Kearny Mesa.
Dealership management noted that the planned course is designed to highlight local mountain roads while avoiding extended travel on major interstates. The route reaches elevations above 5,000 feet before completing the back-road return loop.
