Magician Aaron Radatz to recreate Houdini escape at Canton Halloween show Oct. 30

Magician Aaron Radatz performs Harry Houdini's famous upside-down straight jacket escape.

Magician Aaron Radatz will pay tribute to Harry Houdini on the 100th anniversary of his death with a family Halloween magic show at the Village Theater in Canton, Michigan. The one-night-only show is Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. Houdini died in Detroit on Halloween in 1926.

Radatz will recreate Houdini’s most famous escape, the upside-down straitjacket escape, as the grand finale. He is one of the few magicians in the world who performs the feat. The show returns for its 20th year and is open to all ages, with magic, grand illusion, and audience participation from Radatz and his wife, April Radatz.

“We always love returning to where my career began,” Radatz said. He said this year is especially special because he is presenting a Houdini escape that took years to train for and refine.

Tickets range from $20 to $30. They are available at radatzmagic.com or by calling (734) 394-5300.

Radatz, a Michigan native, was recently featured on Masters of Illusion on the CW Network. He has performed at military bases around the world since 1999, including performances arranged through the Department of Defense at the Pentagon. His Michigan credits include performances for General Motors, Chrysler, Soaring Eagle Casino, the Detroit Tigers and Little Caesars.

April Radatz is the choreographer, dancer, lead magic assistant, and co-producer of Radatz Magic. She began singing and dancing at age 6.
