Field of Screams opens its 34th season on Friday, Sept. 11, introducing a new scene called the Midnight Masquerade inside its Den of Darkness attraction.
Founded in 1993 by brothers Gene and Jim Schopf, the Lancaster County event features four separate attractions: the Haunted Hayride, the Den of Darkness, the Frightmare Asylum, and the Nocturnal Wasteland. Each experience takes 20 to 25 minutes to complete.
The new scene is housed inside a converted barn that originally opened as an attraction in 1995. The site was previously featured on the Travel Channel as one of the scariest haunted houses in the world.
The attraction operates on Fridays and Saturdays in September, expanding to Friday through Sunday operating dates in October with added Thursday nights beginning Oct. 15. The regular season concludes on Nov. 1, 6, and 7.
Two post-season events are scheduled to follow the regular run. The Extreme Blackout takes place on Friday, Nov. 13, followed by the Zombie Fun Run 5K on Saturday, Nov. 14, which donates a portion of its proceeds to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition.
Admission pricing varies by date, with the Scream Pass covering access to all four attractions. The property also features a free-entry Entertainment Area with live music, food vendors, games, axe throwing, and a beer garden for guests ages 21 and older.
The venue is located off Route 30 in Mountville and draws approximately 75,000 visitors annually. The daytime property also hosts Corn Cob Acres, a separate non-frightening attraction featuring more than 50 activities for children under 10.
