Investigation Discovery has announced the return date for the new season of the true crime series Toxic, hosted by Elizabeth Chambers. The series returns to ID on Tuesday, September 15 at 10 p.m. Eastern time, with new episodes airing weekly and streaming on HBO Max.
Chambers, drawing on her background in investigative journalism and survivor advocacy, guides viewers through stories exploring domestic abuse and intimate partner violence across the country. The upcoming season features first-hand accounts from survivors, family members, and loved ones to examine how unhealthy relationship dynamics escalate.
The season premiere, titled “Don’t Go Home,” focuses on the story of Jenn Holman and her relationship with Jesse Winnick. The episode details how their personal dynamic escalated into violence despite warnings from family and friends to keep their distance.
Future episodes across the season will examine additional cases from around the nation. Topics include allegations of coercion and abuse involving a preacher in the Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church network, as well as a marriage marked by sexual violation.
The series will also cover the murder of University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Love by her boyfriend shortly before her college graduation. Toxic is produced for Investigation Discovery by Breaklight Pictures.
