Discovery Channel achieved its highest Shark Week ratings in seven years during the week of July 26 through August 1. The annual programming event led Discovery Channel to rank as the top primetime cable network among key adult demographics, including Adults, Men, and Women 25-54.
During the week, Shark Week primetime telecasts averaged a 0.77 Live+3 rating among Adults 25-54. This performance represented the largest year-over-year rating increase for the event in 13 years and marked its first year of ratings growth since 2023.
Excluding sports programming, Discovery Channel aired seven of the top 10 cable telecasts of the week among Adults 25-54. Top-performing programs included Air Jaws: Red, White & Breach, Invasion of the Mega Sharks, Expedition Unknown: Shark Secrets, Jaws vs. Orca, K-Pop Shark Heroes, House of Sharks, and Jurassic Sharks.
The television event also expanded its audience reach across social media platforms. Since the promotional campaign began in May, Shark Week content has generated 230 million impressions and 161 million video views online.
Joseph Boyle, Head of Content at Discovery Channel, attributed the performance to a varied programming lineup that included great white shark footage, specialized creature segments, and a K-pop musical anthem.
