Six-time GRAMMY Award winner Amy Grant has released a new single, “How Do We Get There From Here,” a duet with singer-songwriter Ruby Amanfu, offering a poignant reflection on grief, division, and the search for common ground.

The song arrives on the anniversary of the Covenant School shooting in Nashville, which inspired the track. Written in the wake of the tragedy, the single grapples with questions of accountability, compassion, and collective action in an increasingly fractured society.

“What began as a response to one devastating moment has grown into a broader reflection on how we move forward together,” Grant said in a statement, emphasizing the importance of unity despite differences.

The track serves as the final preview of Grant’s upcoming album, The Me That Remains, set for release May 8 via Thirty Tigers. The album marks her first collection of original material in more than a decade.

Grant, 65, remains a pioneering figure in contemporary Christian and pop music, with more than 30 million albums sold and over 2 billion global streams. Over a career spanning more than five decades, she became the first artist in her genre to achieve a platinum record, reach No. 1 on pop charts, and perform at the GRAMMY Awards.

“How Do We Get There From Here” features lyrics that confront the human cost of violence while urging listeners to consider their role in shaping a more compassionate future. Amanfu described the collaboration as a call to take small but meaningful steps toward understanding, even when progress feels difficult.

In the aftermath of the Nashville shooting, Grant and Amanfu joined fellow artists, including Sheryl Crow, Allison Russell, and Margo Price, in advocating for legislative action in Tennessee. While those efforts faced challenges, the experience helped shape the song’s central message.

The upcoming album, produced by Mac McAnally, explores themes of healing, endurance and self-reflection. Its 10 tracks draw from Grant’s personal experiences, including recent health challenges, and offer a deeply introspective look at her life and career.

Grant is also set to appear for a special event, “A New York Evening with Amy Grant,” on April 15, featuring a conversation about the album and an intimate performance. She will mark the album’s release with a show at Ryman Auditorium on May 8.
