The Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway will launch The Magenta Train Charlotte in the NoDa neighborhood at 409 East 35th Street. The venue debuts on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, with an 11:00 a.m. ribbon cutting and media preview, followed by a public open house from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The attraction features restored passenger railcars dating back more than a century for private events, community gatherings, and curated public experiences. Future plans for the site include Engine Room 87 Locomotive Bar, a self-pour tap bar built inside a locomotive that includes a rooftop deck, canopy car, and lounge.
Portions of the train fleet will remain in Charlotte following the October preview before returning with additional railcars for permanent placement in spring 2027. Select railcars will continue to support event operations and excursions from the railway’s base in Pinehurst.
Attendance for the Oct. 22 open house is free with no tickets required. Visitors must sign an on-site safety waiver to tour the cars, which are not wheelchair accessible, and pets are prohibited aboard the train.
The Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway previously operated the train fleet out of Pinehurst for private charters during the U.S. Open and seasonal excursions like the Carolina Christmas Train. The railway also produces interactive experiences, including LocoMOTIVE: A Train Murder Mystery, alongside brunch and dinner trips.
