The true crime network Investigation Discovery has announced the upcoming premiere of a new six-episode series titled Game Day Murders. The production is executive produced by former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal through his production company, Jersey Legends Productions, in association with Lion Television.
The investigative series is hosted by veteran sports broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak. The scheduled global premiere will air on Monday, July 27, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on the Investigation Discovery cable channel, with new episodes releasing weekly and becoming available to stream on HBO Max.
The true crime program utilizes firsthand accounts from families, teammates, and individuals close to the cases to examine homicide investigations that impacted the sports world. The premiere episode, titled “A Killer Recruit,” focuses on the 2003 disappearance of Baylor University basketball player Patrick Dennehy and features an interview with his former teammate Ellis Kidd Jr.
Subsequent episodes throughout the season examine specific criminal cases involving professional and amateur athletes across various sports disciplines. The broadcast schedule includes investigations into the arrest of NHL player Mike Danton, the murder of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright, and the death of Dallas high school basketball player Troy Causey.
The final two episodes of the season look into the disappearances and deaths of professional baseball and football players. The network will air segments detailing the murder of Cincinnati Reds player Dernell Stenson during the Arizona Fall League, as well as the fatal home invasion of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor.
