Big League Productions has announced the premiere national tour of its stage production, Mystic Pizza: A New Musical. The upcoming theatrical run is scheduled to officially open at the Clemens Center in Elmira, New York, on September 26, 2026. The production is based on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture that featured an original story and characters by Amy Holden Jones.

The musical narrative follows the lives of three best friends, Kat, Daisy, and Jojo, as they navigate romance, friendship, and self-identity while working at a small-town pizza restaurant in Mystic, Connecticut. The theatrical adaptation features a book written by Sandy Rustin, with musical arrangements and orchestrations provided by Carmel Dean. The score is comprised of popular radio hits from the 1980s and 1990s, including “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “Hold On,” and “Manic Monday.”

Jennifer Werner is serving as both director and choreographer for the traveling production. Werner currently works as the supervising associate director for worldwide productions of The Book of Mormon, with a career that includes credits for off-Broadway shows, regional theater productions, and national commercial choreography. The creative team also includes scenic designer Nate Bertone, lighting designer Dalton Hamilton, costume designer Jen Caprio, and sound designer Matt Kraus.

The stage show was originally developed through a partnership involving Lively McCabe Entertainment, Concord Theatricals, Primary Wave Music, McCoy/Rigby Entertainment, and Riverside Theatricals. Prior to the national tour announcement, the musical completed previous developmental runs at the Ogunquit Playhouse, La Mirada Theatre, Riverside Theater, and Paper Mill Playhouse. Daniel Sher serves as the executive producer for the current touring iteration.

The production scheduled upcoming tour stops in several major metropolitan areas across the United States, including Dallas, Detroit, and St. Paul. Columbia Artists Theatricals is managing the booking availability for the touring schedule, while Tate Creative and Eric Emch are directing the marketing and creative assets. Casting details for the traveling ensemble are scheduled to be made public by the production team in the near future.
