Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers LIVE AT THE PARADISE ROCK CLUB on vinyl

The Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers estate will release a limited-edition vinyl pressing of Live at the Paradise Rock Club, 1978, capturing an early live performance from the band’s formative touring years.

The release will be limited to 3,000 copies pressed on 180-gram pink and green split-dye vinyl. The recording documents a concert at Paradise Rock Club in Boston during the band’s “You’re Gonna Get It!” tour and was originally broadcast by WBCN-FM.

According to the estate, the performance has been restored by engineer Ryan Ulyate and includes nine tracks, among them early versions of “Breakdown” and “Too Much Ain’t Enough,” as well as several cover songs. The release also features artwork based on an original Shelter Records acetate from Tom Petty’s archives.

Alan “Bugs” Weidel, a longtime equipment manager for the band, reflected on the recording in materials provided by the estate, noting the group’s early connection to Boston audiences and the growth of its fan base in the city.

The release is part of ongoing 50th anniversary commemorations for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The estate said the band’s anniversary will be observed throughout the year.

Tom Petty, who died in 2017, was a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Award-winning artist known for his work both as a solo performer and with the Heartbreakers. His catalog includes albums such as Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers, as well as contributions to the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys.
