“Lions at the Gate” is a dynamic protest song that draws symbolic inspiration from the lion statues found outside Hollywood mansions in the 1920s. The track features Morello’s signature guitar style and additional vocals from Julian Frampton.
“‘Lions at the Gate’ is a powerful track with a powerful message, and Tom’s playing took it to another level,” Peter Frampton said in a statement.
The album features a wide array of guest collaborators, including Sheryl Crow, Graham Nash, H.E.R., and Bill Evans. It also includes the previously released single “Buried Treasure,” a tribute to the late Tom Petty featuring Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench.
The 76-year-old guitarist described the recording process as a deeply personal experience. “I got to work with my son Julian—writing and producing together. A first of many for us I’m sure,” he said.
The announcement follows a prolific period for Frampton, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2024 and recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of his landmark live album, “Frampton Comes Alive!”
“Carry the Light” will be available in multiple formats, including CD, 180-gram yellow vinyl, and spatial audio via Dolby Atmos. A limited-edition numbered vinyl will be sold exclusively through Frampton’s official store and select online retailers.
