Musician Ziggy Marley has released his second children’s picture book, True to Myself, through HarperCollins Children’s Books. The book is based on Marley’s song of the same name, which has logged over 153 million plays on Spotify.
Illustrated by Ashley Evans, the story focuses on a community of children engaging in acts of kindness and giving back. Scenes depict characters sitting with new students at lunch, sharing equipment on the playground, and volunteering in their neighborhood.
The publication explores themes of self-empowerment, mindfulness, sharing, cooperation, and inclusion. The narrative is designed to highlight self-esteem and authenticity alongside community care.
Marley has previously engaged with children’s media through his first picture book, Pajammin, as well as television appearances. His past work includes spots on Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, and Chopped Junior.
Additionally, Marley performed “Believe in Yourself,” the theme song that opened every episode of Arthur across its 25-year run. The nine-time Grammy and Emmy Award-winning artist continues his focus on youth-oriented themes with this latest release.
