Woody Auction will host an American Brilliant Cut Glass auction on Saturday, September 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Central Time. The event features nearly 300 lots offered without reserve, available for bidding both online and in person at the Woody auction hall in Douglass, Kansas.
A key highlight of the auction is a pair of five-light cut glass candelabra known as “The Liberace,” which matches the form of a single candelabrum sold in the 1988 Liberace Estate Auction. The set weighs 32.2 pounds and comes from the Mitchell Caughman Collection in Colorado, accompanied by a copy of the 1988 auction catalog.
The sale also features a 28¾-inch three-part vase in the Empress pattern by Quaker City, originating from the Moore family in Nevada. This marks the first time the piece has been offered to the public since 1909. Other notable items from the Caughman Collection include a Meriden vase in the Rose Diamond pattern, a signed Libbey round tray in the Marcella pattern, and a 16¼-inch demijohn jug.
Additional lots include a three-piece lamp with a globe-shaped shade, a pair of rock crystal decanters with engraved tropical bird designs, and a round tray from the Robert H. Meyer Estate Collection. A Clark punch bowl in the Waldorf pattern and a two-part pedestal punch bowl are also up for bid.
In-person previews will take place on September 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and September 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at 130 East 3rd Street in Douglass. Remote bidding is accessible through Woody Auction’s online platform, LiveAuctioneers, and phone bid registration.
